Family Newspaper

I know that I mentioned this in Blogger already but no one has responded to me. I would like to start a family newspaper. The first edition will go out with Grandma's June calender. I need stories, info., pictures, and all other news by May 15 so that I can compile it and get it to grandma by June 1. Please let me know what you think. My address is 253 E. 8640 So. Family News Letter

Hello all! Does Jean use Blogger? Now I know that we all have this blogger thing to do family news but I thought that since Grandma sends out a calendar pretty much every month then maybe we could have a quarterly Family News Letter to go along with it. Often times we miss out on events because we are all so spread out and this would be a way to tell about those events and forewarn about others. We could include photos (which on Blogger we can not) of things like current car projects for the Vandertoolen boys, photos of vacations such as Vicky and the Ferguson's one to France, or even just photos of family get togethers such as Easter, Christmas or other fun times. We could include stories from life in general, silly things that we have done, good news, or brag about other family members about their accomplishments that they would never tell anyone. :) I will find out when I would like the first newsletter to go out and then I will send everyone more information about where to send stories and news and pictures. But, I would like some feed back. It just seems to me that as our family is growing and changing this would be the ideal way to keep everyone up-to-date. Does this sound like a good idea to everyone? Let me know. Lastly, I graduate from Institute on April 25th. I will let everyone know the time when I receive it.

Windy Easter

A special thanks to Mom and Dad, (Grandma and Pa) for letting us crash their house saturday. I was so cold I don't think I could have stood if we had to have the picnic out side. We really appreciate their letting us all be there at the last minute. Thanks to Dad and Bruce for cooking all the meat too.

Erin, I'll try to come up with a memorie, but my old foggy brain dosen't remember back that far. I remember my wedding much more than my endowment day. I'll try.

My Temple Can

(Following is the exact information that I received in Relief Society to give to those whom I would like to include in my temple can, this applies to everyone in the family and I hope that you will all help me with this, please let non-bloggers know about my temple can and give them my e-mail or street address (which will be found at the bottom of the page)

Our Relief Society enrichment project for the month of May is to make a Temple can. We are going to fill it up with letters and keepsakes from special people in our lives.
I would be honored to have a letter or something from you telling me a little about your experiance when you went to the temple for the first time. Also you could include how to continue to make each temple trip an amazing one, even some experiances or advice along with any other thing you can think of to help during this important time in my life and/or send a small keepsake that may be memorable to me or that I could use on that day.
The letters and keepsake I receive will be sealed, unopened, in my Temple can on May 5, 2004. I will open it when I am preparing to go through the temple or in five years from now to help my temple worship. I will then read the letters and open the keepsakes from the people I cherish.

Another new feature on this blog

I hope you like the changes I have been making to the Ferguson Family News. In addition to the "Links" section, I have now made it possible for you to put a title at the top of your post. This is optional, but it does tend to help the reader who "scans" for information rather than reads each word. For example, since I put a title on this post that sounds "techie," I doubt anyone will read this...... :-) Think of "Titleing" a blog post as similar to putting a "Subject" heading on your outgoing email. You do do that don't you?

It's Spring! and time for a new look to our family blog. Do you realize that the Ferguson Family News is now two years old? Look through the monthly archives to relive some history and see where we've been.

I've been learning a lot about blogs over the past two months as I've completely redone the South Davis Junior High Library Media Center web site with a blog-like, updateable "news" section down the middle of the page (check it out by clicking on the link). I have also started a blog called "A Librarians Journal" that some of you might like to read, and have been lobbying some of my friends to start their own blogs. One of these friends (that some of you know) is Kim (Ellis) Madsen. I have put a link to her gardening blog in the new "Links" section on this page.

Blogging has really taken off on the Internet now, and it is now possible to "subscribe" to your favorite blogs and read them all in the same place using "aggregator" software. One free, web-based, agggregator is called Bloglines and I would be happy to show anyone how to use it. In addition to the Ferguson Family News, you can use bloglines to get news, weather, and other information.
